Reading

Hey.

Reading has always been a massive part of my life, from the nights when my brother and I would squish into my tiny single bed and Dad would read us stories from a massive heavy storybook.
I soon began to read by myself, and I've never looked back.

At school, I've always been better at Literacy (writing, spelling and reading) rather than Math. I remember being six years old and having an argument with a girl who didn't believe me that 'ballet' ended with a 't'. (I won this battle) Reading has always inspired me and helped me so much in my life. Maybe one day I'll show you my first book I wrote at seven yrs old...

I love books and reading.

There is a moment when you open up your book and let your mind do the walking.
There is a moment only in the best books when you forget about everything around you. You forget about that mean girl, or how your sibling pushed you and all that daily stress and anger fades away. Mundane boring things in your life strip away and you are in this world.
A world you can visualize, stretching your imagination, living in that moment. As those characters. You feel. You're pulled into this whirlwind roller-coaster and the author isn't letting you off until you've ridden the ups and the downs. You've cried and laughed and blushed and squealed. You may be living in the author's world, but you can change it. You have escaped the deary world outside and in this vortex of wonder the author may make the rules but you're ruler.

There are no limits here, and you can watch it from the sidelines or you can become it. Because the beauty of it is, it's entirely up to you.

You can throw the book on the floor in annoyance and pretend like you're done with it.. Yet one foot is still in the world. You've got to finish the ride. Suddenly, the words on the page begin to blur together and before you know it time has passed faster than Arthur Weasley's car being smashed by the whomping willow with Ron and Harry inside. Or faster than a Vampire (if you're into that.)...
You see, you become so engrossed in your world where time is different. In your world only ten minutes have passed.. yet when you check your watch its almost dawn. The birds are about to wake, the cars of early morning workers are going to rumble. So, you slowly climb out of your world, and into a peaceful slumber.

The first time I stayed up until 5 am reading was on my fifth year of school.
I had school that day, as was running on no sleep, did that bother me? A little. But I was so obsessed with finishing this ride I was on I didn't really mind.
That book series I was reading was Harry Potter. So, yes. I am infact the biggest nerd, but I don't think that that's a bad thing, or something to be ashamed of.
Harry Potter honestly means a lot to me, and it's amazing that books and movies can give people (well at least me) such strong emotional attachments.

In September 2015, I am going to London. I'm going to the Warner Bro's Studio Harry Potter tour, and I'm certain I will cry.

Just the fact that, when you're going through terrible times there are flawless works of literature to help and distract is magical. I feel sad for the people who don't enjoy reading because it is and always will be a massive deal in my life.

If it weren't for reading books I would not be me, nor have my morals, values and beliefs.
Reading has given me so much. I will be eternally grateful to authors like; John Green, J.K Rowling, Rainbow Rowel, Stephen Cbosky, Maya Angelou and so many more.

Books can change your life, and I'll finish this with one of my favourite quotations;
"In books we enter a world that is entirely our own."

Another amazing John Green quote..
I'm not obsessed with him I promise!

Thanks for reading, about reading. *wink* xx

ps. READ ELEANOR&PARK BY RAINBOW ROWELL. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
