Things That Have Made Me Happy - DECEMBER

Hey.

Well, this December was amazing.
Here in NZ, December means summer and for me Christmas means family. Every second year my extended family of around 70 people get together and spend it at one of the great aunts/uncles farms. This year was up north at Hikurangi, we had a few troubles getting up there towing a caravan however.. About three hours into our journey the caravan jolted, and we pulled over to see the wheel had blown.

We got mucked around by some guy who had no idea what he was doing and our spirits were getting pretty low. We managed Taupo and after a swim in Lake Taupo, I felt incredible. After a little walk around the Botancial Gardens, I found a silver fern. I picked it off, and carried it back to the car; Dad was wearing a black jersey and I stuck the silver fern on his chest like how the All Blacks have their jerseys. Immediately Dad got a phonecall, from a man who took us in and fed us fresh fruit and vegetables and let us stay at his house. He fixed up the caravan and within two days we were back on track; feeling refreshed and ready. Moral of our caravan fiasco is; always keep your spirits up and never forget to believe in the magic of the lucky silver fern.

Without further ado, here is the long list of everything that has made me happy in the last month of 2014.

Chamomile tea after I put up the christmas tree.
It did have decorations the next day !

Manawatu River!

Zoe taking a photo of our drawings.

Mine and Zoes.
Zoe is a seriously amazing artist!

At the Lagoon, Mama Swan and her
fluffy babies came over to see if we
had food !

The Lagoon again!
It's a really special place to me, and
I really love it at sunset.

Lagoon with the sun setting.

Pink coloured coke cans!
It's your typical coke summer advertisement,
but I couldn't resist!

Wellington!

Really cool mini golf place in Wellington!

Heaps of metal scraps and bits made into
sculptures all over the course.

The entry fees.

Luna!!
I feel like she will be in all of my
TTHMMH, because she really does make me
happy! This is her just after a brush.

My brother, during the caravan fiasco
he took it pretty badly, and was over it and over
everything. Which is definitely understandable!

The lucky silver fern.

Dad's looking at getting a tattoo of this,
so it will be interesting to see where that goes!

It's not perfect, and I think thats what I like
about this fern.

Botancial Gardens, with a tree that my
grandfather will be disappointed I don't know the name of!
He has a degree in forresty!

Taupo is an awesome place when there's good
weather.

Reporoa sunset.

Trilogy is a NZ brand, and I hear so much good stuff about them,
This night cream makes you sleepy and when you wake up
you wake up feeling fresh.
Because I'm not a morning person, in the slightest...
this is great!

Wreck this journal - Keri Smith
It was given to me by a friend, and it's been heaps of fun
to destroy! You tear out pages, stick dead bugs in,
scribble and deface it completely.
It's basically a librarians worst nightmare.

One of the pages from inside.

Reindeers we did with my younger cousins.
So cute!

Girl Online - Zoe Sugg aka Zoella
This book is more for tweens - early teens,
and I did find the writing a little young for me, but
what I really loved about it was how it wrote
about anxiety and panic attacks.
Being a sufferer and a blogger too I could relate heaps
to Penny.
I partically loved that there were techniques to help with
anxiety too, and because at the start of 2014
I was feeling incredibly alone; it's nice to know
that I'm not and seemingly perfect people
like Zoe go through it too.

Art Therapy is the most gorgeous book.
It can work for children to teens to adults, it's so intricate
and beautiful.
It actually is incredibly calming too, you just relax and
do your thing, quietly.

My gumboots!
Mum bought the black gumboots I was dying for,
and I have worn them for a week
without wearing any other shoes...
(also shoutout to James in the background!)

At our family christmases, one year little me
decided I wanted to do a play.
The play was called 'A Christmas Wish' and it was very cute.
Every year since the young kids have done plays,
because I'm the oldest girl in their generation I'm usually
helping out, this year was relaxed because
I was really not in the mood for stressing out little ones!

Whananaki Beach.
Probably my ultimate favourite beach.

Swirly shell, my cousin tried to eat.

Whananaki camping, feat the dreaded Caravan.

A massive blueberry!

Our Christmas 'Pea'
We had no christmas tree at my grandparents,
so I improvised with the sweet peas.

And finally, lemonade and raspberries.
Perfectly summer!

My December was definitely the perfect sendoff to 2014.
I am so excited to see what 2015 brings, and I hope you are too!
Thanks for reading ! XX
