Little Ways To Change The World

Hey,

As I sat under my twinkling fairy lights, in the safety of my own home - a roof above my privileged head, talking to my best friends about life, a thought hit us all at the same time. It didn't matter that we weren't together physically, we all shared a moment of humility.

How blessed are we that we live in one of the most safest countries in the world? How blessed are we to know that we will wake up tomorrow. How blessed are we that we have people we love us.

So, how can we save the world, when the world is so big and we are so little? I firmly believe that change starts with one person. Just one little person who's dreams and hopes are far bigger than an average person could fathom. This is why youth are our best chance, you see, youth haven't had their dreams crushed by the cruelty of the world, or shunned their hearts away from it in ignorance. The day that we all together accept that we are all people and we are matter, is the day the world is saved.

You reading this right now, can change the world, even in the littlest of ways.

  • Volunteer. Volunteering at an animal shelter or a work place that you admire.
  • Get Involved. There are thousands of groups and campaigns and charities that are just waiting for someone like you to get involved in.
  • Start with YOU. Learn to love yourself and be gentle on yourself.
  • Sweet Sentiments. Like leaving a note for a stranger telling them to have a nice day, or complimenting a loved one and letting them know how much they mean to you.

All of these things are so small, but can make a real impact on someone else's life. It's not about being politically correct all the time, it's about spreading love in a world that's full to the brim with hate and pain.

A few things I've found thought provoking lately are these;
  • THIS video of random acts of kindness
  • THIS article on including Baghdad and Beirut into our grief for Paris
  • THIS TED Talk on how everyone around you has a story
  • THIS article on small ways of helping the world
  • THIS TED Talk on how tourism can help tourism

I hope you keep loving those around you, and open your heart to others.
Love,
Georgia Maree xx
