Hey.
Sometimes I just randomly get a sudden bouts of sadness, and it's so weird because I'm not depressed and sometimes I don't have a particular reason to be sad I just feel funky. (not in a groovy 70's way) *Ironically posting this after my rough patch life update*
When I'm in one of these moods it can suck. I'm generally a positive bubbly person, but because I am sensitive, moods can hit me pretty hard. So when you're in a funk here's some things I do, give them a try. Definitely do remember though that if you are feeling really empty it could lead to depression, and these tips aren't for depression as I have not suffered that. Please talk to someone, I know its hard but you will feel so much better for just getting it out, and the first real step to recovery is accepting it and seeking help, and realizing that it is okay to ask for help. Mental Disorders can make you feel so alone so just know that I'm here cheering you on through my computer screen! You are amazing.
Watch a feel good movie!
Feel good movies are great because you don't have to think too much, you can just get absorbed into the movie.
Some of my favourites to watch while under the weather are:
- Mary Poppins ! Something about Julie Andrews makes me smile. I adore her, and I love musicals
- Legally Blonde - This is my staple movie always. Elle Woods is amazing and this movie is probably my ultimate favourite.
- Pretty Much Any Disney Movie - except Up, Lion King and Finding Nemo. Those make me emotional and sad. Fast forward the beginning of Finding Nemo and its fine but I just can't with Lion King!
- Secret Life of Walter Mitty - watch this if you want insane wanderlust! I really loved this movie at the theatres and its no different at home. Awesome cinematography too
- Any Movie that you absolutely love!- Ultimately we all have different tastes which is proven by the fact that my brother enjoys watching 'The Room'
Comfort Food!
I know, I know. But chocolate can keep dementors away and theres actually scientific evidence that chocolate can make you feel better. And if you're feeling crap, you deserve to treat yourself! Do it girl! (or boy?!)
Pamper Yo-self!
Slap on a face mask, take a relaxing bath, chill out! You deserve some me-time so lie down and enjoy the silence and peace. Or if you're feeling lonely call a friend or loved one and have a catch up.
Have An Emergency Dance Party!
This is legit, (also an Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell reference) Dancing releases endorphins and endorphins make you happy! Get up and boogie. Everyone has that one song that they have to dance to, so turn it up super loud and jump around like a maniac. You'll feel better. I promise.
Write Your Feelings!
Maybe this is just me, but I'm a writer. I have to vent my feelings so I scribble down random notes or type memo's on my phone. Get it out and in the open. I also write down what makes me happy every month which I post on this blog. It helps me realize how much light I have in my life.
