Appreciating All Experiences || GUEST POST - Lauren

 Hey,

So my name is Lauren and a little while ago Georgia asked me if I wanted to write something for her blog. I’ve never really done this before so please bear with me, but I was instructed to write about something I am passionate about, so here goes:

Over the past couple years I have learnt what I think is one of the most valuable lessons of all -to appreciate absolutely everything, to make the most of each day and to be grateful for all experiences - both good and bad. I don’t really know when this became apparent to me, but ever since this non-descript time, it has been something along the lines of my ‘problem free philosophy’.

An extremely common misunderstanding, that I think really affects people, teens especially.. is that people only think to be grateful for the good stuff in their life. I am a firm believer that each day, each experience has some sort of moral lesson that you can take away from it - good or bad. Now I’m not encouraging you to be happy about all ‘experiences’, because let’s face it, not all experiences are great! What I mean is, that although the experience itself is not great, the lesson you take away from it is.

The fact that we have the ability to learn from things, to advance and develop our knowledge, our understanding, our character, ourselves... honestly blows my mind. And it can be from the smallest things! What is important is when you look back on your day, you look at everything and okay yeah, maybe that thing you said was dumb, and maybe you forgot to do this.. and yes that is cringe worthy.. but everyone of these things is something you can learn from.

It’s like.. ‘next time I’ll think through what I’m going to say first’ or ‘OK tomorrow I need to get this done, so I’m going to prioritize it’ - see, what you learn from ‘bad things’, helps you get closer to good things in the future. Learning is such an incredible thing, it’s time we begun making the most of it.

Thank you for reading! You can see more of Lauren here, and in some of my Things That Have Made Me Happy's ! xxx

Love,
Lauren and Georgia Maree xx
